Starwood Furniture
Sustainable teak plantation in Indonesia

Sustainability

Our commitment to the environment runs through every grain of wood we work with.

Our Approach

Honest Materials, Responsible Processes

At Starwood, sustainability is not a trend - it is a foundational principle. From the moment we select our raw materials to the final inspection before shipping, every decision is made with environmental responsibility in mind.

We work exclusively with plantation-grown teak and hardwoods, sourced through Indonesia's SVLK timber legality verification system and certified under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody.

Our factory in Jepara operates under ISO environmental management standards, with continuous improvement programs aimed at reducing our carbon footprint, minimizing waste, and protecting the local ecosystem.

Our Practices

How We Build Responsibly

Six pillars of sustainability that guide our operations every day.

Certified Teak Sourcing

All our teak wood is sourced from FSC-certified plantations managed by Perhutani (Indonesian State Forestry Enterprise), ensuring responsible forestry practices and full traceability.

Waste Reduction

Our production processes are optimized to minimize wood waste. Offcuts are repurposed for smaller products, and sawdust is recycled for biomass energy generation.

Water-Based Finishes

We prioritize low-VOC, water-based lacquers and finishes that reduce harmful emissions while delivering superior protection and beauty to every piece.

Community Investment

We invest in the Jepara woodworking community through apprenticeship programs, fair wages, safe working conditions, and skills development for the next generation.

Plantation Wood Only

Starwood never uses old-growth or illegally harvested timber. Every piece of wood in our factory comes from managed plantations with proper SVLK documentation.

Quality for Longevity

Sustainable furniture is furniture that lasts. Our rigorous quality control ensures every product delivers decades of use, reducing the cycle of replacement and waste.
